The Rune Stone was one of the names of the Stone of Destiny. ("Rock of Ages")
Real-World Background
Rune-stones were made by the Vikings, usually as memorials to dead friends and relatives. They were so called because of the runes carved upon them. Many can be found on the isle of Gotland in the Baltic Sea.
