History
In October 1195 AD, Shahrizad told Byzantine Emperor Isaac Angelos and his court the story of Youhanna Al Diyab – a boy who lived in Khaifang. ("Fallen From the Ranks...")
Real World Background
The original tale of "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp" was not set in the fictional city of Agrabah (as depicted in the 1992 Disney Animated Feature Film), but rather an unspecified ancient city in China.
