Egypt is a land and a country in Northeast Africa with a rich history stretching from the ancient past to the modern day.

History

The people of Egypt have had contact with at least one member of the Third Race, Anubis, since antiquity. Presumably, the Scroll of Thoth was also written there in the distant past. There is also a good possibility that at least one gargoyle clan once lived in Egypt, though none exist there as of 1997. [1]

According to one account given by Shari, long ago, Egypt was ruled by a Pharaoh. Gathelus won many victories in battle for this Pharaoh and in return was given the hand of the Pharaoh's daughter, an Egyptian princess named Scota. The pair resided in Egypt for a time and befriended Moses. Moses warned them of the coming plagues to descend upon Egypt and so Gathelus and Scota (who was pregnant) left Egypt taking with them a sacred stone of the Hebrews that Moses entrusted them with. ("The Rock")

In an alternative take of this legend, however, Moses took the stone along with him during the Exodus through Egypt, and brought forth water from the stone by striking it with his staff. The stone then remained in or near Egypt until the time of Jeremiah. ("Rock & Roll")

Many centuries later, in 1996, Goliath, Angela, Elisa, and Bronx arrived in Egypt on the seventh recorded destination on the Avalon World Tour. There they encountered the Emir, Jackal, Hyena, Wolf, Coyote, and Anubis. During this adventure an entire Egyptian town was laid to waste by Jackal, who had become the avatar of Anubis. In the end, the Emir died in Egypt and the temple under the Sphinx was destroyed. ("Grief")

Greg Weisman has written his desire to explore the aftermath of Jackal's actions on the Egyptian town that was destroyed. [2]

Real World Background

Officially, Egypt is known as the Arab Republic of Egypt; it is a country in North Africa that includes the Sinai Peninsula, a land bridge to Asia. Covering an area of about 1,001,450 square kilometers (386,560 square miles), Egypt borders Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and Israel and the Gaza Strip to the northeast; on the north and the east are the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, respectively.

Egypt is the location of one of the first human civilizations, which began at least by 3200 B.C. and lasted for three thousand years.
