WVRN is a television station in New York City, which Jon Canmore worked for in his guise as "Jon Carter". ("Hunter's Moon Part One")

Real World Background
The name is another "in-joke"; WVRN is clearly an all-consonant version of "Wyvern". Greg Weisman has suggested that the letters are an indication of the station's ownership, but has not clarified anything beyond that. [1]
