Siege of Sidon

The Siege of Sidon took place from October 19 to December 5 in 1110 AD.

History

For two months, King Sigurd Magnusson of Norway blockaded and attacked the port city of Sidon with a fleet of human and gargoyle soldiers. During one of the initial skirmishes, the setting for King Sigurd's lucky charm, the Eye of Odin, was destroyed. It was also during this siege that Demona first noticed the budding romance between Angelika and Magni. When Sidon and its fortress finally surrendered, the gargoyle Skade reported the victory to King Sigurd, who had since then become disheartened in his crusade. ("Fortune Favors the Brave...")

Real World Background

As depicted in the comics, after arriving in Jerusalem, King Sigurd and his fleet of sixty ships sailed for Sidon, which they besieged with the support of Jerusalem's crusader king, Baldwin I, his forces, plus a fleet of ships from the Republic of Venice.
