The Big O (in Japanese, THE ビッグオー) is a Sunrise anime that is based off the manga of the same name. The series is set in a post-apocalyptic city with a population suffering from collective amnesia.
The series originally aired October 13th, 1999 to March 27, 2003 on Wowow with dubbed episodes airing on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim from April 2, 2001 to November 2, 2003.
References to Gargoyles in The Big O
In the fourteenth episode, "Roger the Wanderer", there are two stone gargoyles that resemble Brooklyn and Broadway on a rooftop as Roger Smith wanders through a forty-year memory of Paradigm City (although the gargoyle resembling Broadway seems to have Goliath's jaw).
