Rhydderch

Rhydderch is a title synonymous for "leader" or "gargoyle leader" in 10th Century Scotland.

Robbie, King Culen, and even Wyvern the dragon used it when addressing or referring to Mentor who was the leader of the Wyvern Clan at the time. ("The Draw", "The Promise", "The Dream")

In 1093, Demona encountered the Northumbria Clan and asked a gargoyle if he was their clan's Rhydderch. The gargoyle agreed he was their leader, but had not heard the term "Rhydderch" since he was a rookling. ("Fools Rush In...")

In 1997, Coldstone used the term occasionally when referring to Goliath. ("Cold Comfort", "Queen of All She Surveys")

Real World Background

"Rhydderch" was a name borne by many northern British kings in the early Middle Ages. Among them was a King Rhydderch of Strathclyde, who slew Culen in 971, after Culen abducted his daughter.
