The Honor Guard of Avalon are the gargoyles who Oberon has named the protectors of Avalon.

History

After the Guardian spared his life and Goliath helped him to his feet, Oberon was taken aback by the mercy the mortals had shown them. He not only agreed to allow them to remain on Avalon, but invited them to. He then declared that henceforth Goliath and his clan would be immune to his arts and would be the Honor Guard of Avalon from that night onward. This extended to both the Avalon Clan as well as the Manhattan Clan. ("Ill Met By Moonlight")

As the Gathering took place, the Avalon Clan fulfilled their duties and acted as the island's honor guard. ("The Gathering" Part One)

Characteristics

Oberon declared that Goliath and his clan would be immune to his arts. This suggests that despite Goliath not residing on the island, he still considers the gargoyle to be the leader of the Honor Guard. When Oberon attacked the Eyrie Building and put everyone in Manhattan to sleep, Elisa Maza was put to sleep as well, suggesting that despite Goliath considering Elisa to be part of his clan, Oberon does not (as his decrees are his to interpret). True to his word, Oberon did not attack the Manhattan Clan with magic, but more direct physical attacks that resulted from his use of magic. Otherwise he could have ended the battle swiftly. ("The Gathering" Part Two)

Both Demona and Thailog were not put to sleep despite being in Manhattan at the time, and despite both not being members of the Manhattan Clan. [1]
