Real World Background
Alexandair (also known as Alexander I) succeeded his older brother Edgar to the throne of Scotland in 1107. He later married Sybilla of Normandy, the illegitimate daughter of Henry I of England (his brother-in-law through his sister, Edith). In 1114, he joined Henry I in an invasion of Wales.
Sybilla later died in 1122 without giving birth to an heir. Alexandair would reign until his death in 1124 and the two were buried in Dunfermline Abbey.
It is believed that Alexandair had one illegitimate son of his own, Máel Coluim mac Alaxandair. In 1130, this Máel Coluim allied himself with one Óengus of Moray (the grandson of Luach) in an unsuccessful campaign to remove Alexandair's successor, Dauid, from the throne.
